A Few Days in Napa

Napa Valley is one of the most beautiful places in California in my opinion. We made the trip to this amazing city during our second wedding anniversary trip to the west coast. We decided to rent a car and stay in downtown Napa so that we were near several restaurants and things to do in the evening. We stayed at Avia Hotel which was fantastic but the true highlight of our downtown stay was dinner at Morimoto Napa. We opted for the coursed dinner menu and we were not disappointed. It is one of the best meals we’ve ever had. The tuna and duck fat soup were among our favorites.

We stopped at Castello di Amorosa the first day we were in town. It provided us with a great opportunity to see the city. And we couldn’t pass up an opportunity to see a castle stateside.

We started the next day with brunch at Domaine Chandon followed by a hot air balloon ride over wine country.

The hot air ballon ride was a highlight of our trip. It was my first time in a hot air balloon and it was exactly as I thought it would be – scary but amazing at the same time.

After our balloon ride, we set out for a day of wine tasting with Platypus Tours.

The next day we hired a private driver for our rental car and visited six wineries. We started the day with some sparkling wine at Domaine Carneros and ended the day at Stag’s Leap. Our driver was very impressed! Most only visit four wineries in a day. Here are the places we visited.

Domaine Carneros

Artesa Vineyards.

Hess Collection

Trefethen

Cakebreak Cellars

Robert Mondavi

And finally, Stag’s Leap.

Napa is a wine lover and foodie’s dream!
