We’ve been to Nashville several times over the years from scouting it out as a place to potentially move to attending one of our best friend’s wedding to celebrating a dear friend’s birthday.
Some of our favorite places to visit include Yazoo Brewery, Hattie B’s for the ultimate in Hot Chicken, and Kayne Prime one of our all-time favorite steak houses.
During our first Nashville visit we knocked out most of the big tourist attractions. We visited the Parthenon which was almost identical to the real thing in Rome. We spent some time in Bicentennial Mall Park, visited the Johnny Cash Museum, Lane Motor Museum, The First Center for the Visual Arts and Ernest Tubb Record Shop.
We also visited Third Man Records which was awesome. We are both huge music fans and Jack White is one of our favorites. And, it just so happened that John Baptiste and the Get Human were playing at the High Watt at Mercy Lounge. The sound was amazing!
We had so many great meals including sushi at Virago, brunch at Tavern, fine dining at Etch, the most amazing tacos at Mas Tacos Por Favor and some late night bar snacks at Pinewood Social. We also made a visit to Puckett’s Grocery & Restaurant.
When we visited Nashville for a wedding, we stayed in an Airbnb in the 12 South neighborhood. This was a really fun part of the city to see aside from the traditional downtown itinerary. There are several shops and restaurants in the area include Bartaco, White’s Mercantile, Draper James, the Frothy Monkey and uniquely Nashville street art. The wedding was at the Cheekwood Estate and Gardens. This is an absolutely beautiful property and certainly worth a visit.
Just a couple of months later we went with a big group to Nashville to celebrate a birthday. We spent our first day of this trip on a party bus that took us out to Arrington Vineyards where we enjoyed a private wine and food pairing. We hopped back on the party bus, changed for dinner at Saint Anejo before heading to The Stage on Broadway for some live music.
The next day we went to The Southern for brunch. They has an amazing oyster menu, live music and traditional southern delicacies like shrimp and grits, crab cakes and fried chicken and waffles.
After brunch, we headed out for a day of honky tonking at Nudies and several others on the strip.
Bottom Line:
There are so many reasons to like Nashville including the amazing food and music on every corner. While we visited Nashville several times, it certainly a city we’d go back to again and again.
