A Greek Adventure in Athens & Santorini

Santorini is one of the most well know islands in the Cyclades region of Greece. It is one of the most beautiful places we have ever visited which is why we chose it as the location of our wedding.

After a quick flight from Athens, we landed in Santorini and headed straight to our hotel to check-in. We stayed at Dream Luxury Suites in Imerovigli. It’s a breathtaking hotel built into the island’s cliff-side. The resort only had four suites each adorned with their own kitchen, balcony, infinity pool and hot tub. It was the perfect mixture of uninterrupted beauty and peacefulness. The hotel manager also provided amazing service scheduling taxi rides and making dinner reservations for us every night including one of our favorites, Galini Fish Tavern.

We booked a flight from Santorini to back to Athens but due to extremely windy conditions, all flights were canceled. We instead took the several hour ferry. Our first impression of Athens was not favorable, but it instantly changed after we arrived at our hotel, The Athens Gate. We headed to our room, opened the curtains and were blown away by the amazing view of the Temple of Zeus.

The next day was spent exploring the Acropolis and the National Archaeological Museum. It was very interesting to compare the ruins and sculptures in Greece to those you see on display in Rome.  small memory card 691big memory card 128

Bottom line:

Greece is a bucket list destination with so much to offer. This is handsdown one of our favorite places that we have ever visited.
