A Week in the Dominican Republic

We headed to the Dominican Republic for some much-needed rest and relaxation in December of 2014. We decided to visit the Cap Cana area of the island instead of the more touristy Punta Cana. Cap Cana is located on the eastern tip of the island. The newly constructed master planned community included a beautiful marina, pristine white sand beaches, golf courses, restaurants, resorts, personal residences and so much more. It was the perfect backdrop for the rest and relaxation we were in search of.

We arrived at our resort and were quickly taken to our room via golf cart. The resort was almost completely empty. It was really nice. It gave us the feeling that we had the entire place to ourselves.

We spent most of our time relaxing at the resort pool and beach. It was very tranquil especially when there were no other visitors in sight. We passed the time reading and sipping cocktails. In the evenings, we headed to the marina to dine in one of the many restaurants. It was easy to get there from our resort as they were just a short golf cart ride away. The marina view was pretty incredible as well. Filled with ambient lighting and music as well as amazing yachts from around the world. We did venture off property one night for the most amazing seafood paella at Little John at Jaunillo Beach. This was our first time trying this dish and it certainly did not disappoint.

Looking for a change of scenery, we headed to Jaunillo Beach one day which ended up being a highlight of our trip.

Bottom Line:

Juanillo Beach and Cap Cana were the epitome of peace and quiet. It was a great place for David and I to connect and relax, just the two of us.
